Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be a series regular on the upcoming seventh season of CBS legal drama The Good Wife.
Morgan has been tapped to play the part of an hourly investigator named Alex on The Good Wife, reported TV Line. Alicia (Julianna Margulies) apparently hires on the experienced investigator to work at her new firm – and he could potentially be a new love interest for the Chicago lawyer.
“We’ve loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years,” Good Wife executive producers Robert King and Michelle King said in a statement. “And we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe.”
Earlier this year, it was announced that Cush Jumbo, best known for her work on Torchwood, had landed a recurring role on The Good Wife. Like Morgan, Jumbo is expected to take on a private-eye type role.
In addition to The Good Wife, Morgan stars on CBS’s Extant with Halle Berry. In the past he’s had notable roles on TV in Grey’s Anatomy, Weeds and Supernatural.
The Good Wife will premiere its seventh season on CBS Oct. 4 at 9/8c.
