Jeff Bezos’s Security Consultant, Gavin De Becker, Says Saudi Arabia Hacked Amazon CEO’s Phone

According to an investigator hired Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Saudis Arabia hacked into Bezos’s phone and threatened to expose his affair with Lauren Sanchez to the tabloids.

Gavin de Becker, Bezos’s investigator, suggests that the alleged hack was linked to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi reporter who worked for the Washington Post, a newspaper Bezos owns.

Bezos as the owner of the Post made him a target of the Saudi government as the paper was writing extensively on Khashoggi, who had been a columist.

“Our investigators and several experts concluded with high confidence that the Saudis had access to Bezos’ phone, and gained private information,” Becker told the Daily Beast.

Bezos has accused America Media Inc., the company that owns the National Enquirer, of attempted extortion. Bezos alleges that AMI threatened to release photos of his affair with Sanchez, unless he wasn’t “politically motivated or influenced by political forces.”

During his investigation, De Becker noted the close relationship between AMI Chairman David Pecker and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

When Bezos announced his divorce with MacKenzie, his wife of 25 years, it was the National Enquirer which published his texts with Sanchez.

America Media Inc. denies these allegations and said Sanchez’s brother was their only source for the report.

“Despite the false and unsubstantiated claims of Mr. de Becker, American Media has, and continues to, refute the unsubstantiated claims that the materials for our report were acquired with the help of anyone other than the single source who first brought them to us,” said the company in a statement.
