Jeb Bush Tweets Gun Pic Captioned ‘America,’ Mocked By Social Media
Jeb Bush – or Jeb Bush’s social media account manager – recently tweeted a picture of his gun, simply captioned, “America.”
Jeb Bush’s Gun
Seemingly out of the blue on Tuesday, Bush’s Twitter account published a tweet of the GOP presidential candidate’s gun emblazoned with “Gov. Jeb Bush.” All the caption reads is “America” followed by a period.
Many in political and media circles were left dumbfounded by the tweet, as gun rights has more or less become a background issue among those in the Republican field angling for a chance at the White House. New York real estate mogul/reality TV star-turned-presidential candidate Donald Trump still faces some questions about his loyalty to the second amendment. But Bush, who grew up and went to college in Texas and governed Florida, hasn’t faced such scrutiny.
Some people on Twitter from other countries decided to play Bush’s game, posting snaps of things that they believe represent their country. Notably, most of the items captioned were food related – not weapons related.
Bush, who is hoping for a decent result in South Carolina, hasn’t addressed the controversy surrounding his gun tweet.
The South Carolina Republican primary will be held Feb. 20, followed by the Nevada caucuses Feb. 23.
