A successor to the JBL Xtreme wireless boombox was unveiled at this year’s CES trade show. The JBL Xtreme 2 will launch this year, and here’s everything we know about it.

JBL XTREME 2 PREVIEW

The JBL Xtreme 2 will launch sometime this spring for $300, and it will come in green, blue and black colorations.

Advancements have been made from the prior model; it’s more compact than your average boombox yet is intended to offer sound that’s just as good thanks to the improved drivers, which should allow for clearer bass. Moreover, the Xtreme 2 is completely waterproof, giving it another edge over its predecessor. According to CNET, JBL demonstrated a comparison between the Xtreme 2 and UE Megaboom at the show, with the former device coming out on top regarding its aural output.

An Xtreme 2 will come with an internal rechargeable Li ion battery, which will offer up to 15 hours of musical bliss. It can also connect to up to two smartphones or tablets wirelessly, and it has built-in noise-cancelling and echo-cancelling mechanisms. Finally, we know the Xtreme 2 will support the JBL Connect+ feature.
