Jay-Z Takes Shot At Kanye West On Meek Mill Track “What’s Free,” Twitter Reacts

Philly rapper Meek Mill dropped his first album since his release from prison in April and within the 19 track LP, one song features a verse from Jay Z, which takes a shot at President Donald Trump, leaving fans to believe that the verse was intended to rip at Kanye West.

On the song, “What’s Free,” also featuring Rick Ross, Jay Z raps a number of lines which seem to address the recent headlines that involve West.

“No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye. They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA. I ain’t one of these house n***as you bought,” Jay raps on the song.

When the song dropped, many fans took the “red hat” line as a direct shot at West, who recently had a meeting with Trump and has frequently been seen wearing the “Make America Great Again” cap. Many fans have even posted to Twitter as they’ve tried to dig deeper into the lyrics meaning.

Sources that were involved with the song’s production are claiming otherwise and say that Jay Z was actually referencing the ’80s and ’90s rivalry between Michael Jackson and Prince, while also taking a shot a Trump.

The rap mogul also took to Twitter himself to explain his verse on the song. “The line clearly meant don’t pit me against my brothers no matter what our differences are (red hat) now go pick up Meek album. Drake and Meek on there together,” Jay-Z wrote.

Last night, Mill had a release party for the new album, Championships, in New York City. His label boss, Ross, was in attendance and Cardi B, who is also on the album, was said to have congratulated Mill over FaceTime.
