Jared Leto To Appear In ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Last week, it was announced that Jared Leto would be reprising his role as the iconic villain The Joker in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Originally debuting in 2016’s Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer, Leto became infamous for his method acting and childish acts such as mailing his fellow cast members used condoms and dead mice in an attempt to capture the essence of the character. Despite Leto’s efforts, most people reacted negatively to his portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad, finding his performance underwhelming and the character unnecessary to the movie’s story. The executives at DC seemed to be aware of the backlash towards Leto’s Joker and made sure not to use him in future projects as he isn’t even fully seen in Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. Although the reception to Leto’s Joker was mostly negative, Zack Snyder is still using him for his version of Justice League.

Many fans were confused when it was announced that Leto would be returning as The Joker. Most of his scenes in Suicide Squad were cut, and even the scenes he appeared in were panned by both critics and audiences alike. In addition to this, it was originally announced that Snyder’s version of Justice League had already completed its filming before the reshoots and only needed a bit of editing to clean it up. With the reveal that Leto is needed to film an extra number of scenes for the movie, it gives off the impression that the film is not actually complete and still needs a major reshoots. This became more clear when it was announced that Amber Heard and Joe Manganiello were needed to reprise their roles as Princess Mera and Deathstroke and film a few additional scenes for the project.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released as a four-part miniseries sometime in 2021 on the streaming service HBO Max.
