Jared Leto will be joining cast of the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, according to published reports.
Leto will reportedly play a “never before seen” character in the film and joins a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, and Dave Bautista.
Ford starred in the original 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, as directed by Ridley Scott.
The untitled sequel will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and released in October 2017.
The film takes place several decades after the 1982 version, and Ford will be reprising his role as police officer Rick Deckard. Further details on the sequel’s plot has not been revealed.
Leto currently stars as The Joker in the DC Comics anti-hero film Suicide Squad, now premiering in theaters.
