Jamie Foxx Recalls Sister DeOndra Dixon On World Down Syndrome Day

Jamie Foxx remembered his sister DeOndra Dixon with a touching tribute on Instagram on Sunday for World Down Syndrome Day.

“My heart 💔💔💔 my breath … my soul… I hear your laughter in the house… I hear you sliding down the stairs… my heart… my breath… my soul… I love u Deondra my angel, #worlddownsyndromeday2021,” he wrote in the caption of the post, which featured a picture of his sister smiling.

Dixon died last October at the age of 36. In 2011, she was named Ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, and she had also competed in the Special Olympics for nine years.

“My heart is shattered into a million pieces…” Foxx said in a post after her death, “my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned… I say transitioned because she will always be alive… anyone who knew my sis… knew that she was a bright light…”

Dixon was also a great dancer, according to her brother. “I want to be a professional dancer,” she said in her biography on the Global Down Syndrome Foundation website. She had danced in Foxx’s “Blame It” music video, and at the Grammys.

“I can’t tell you how many times we have had parties at the house where she has got on the dance floor and stolen the show,” Foxx said. “Even gave her boyfriend @chrisbrownofficial a run for his money… well I know she is in heaven now dancing with her wings on… tho my pain is unbelievable I smile when I think of all of the great memories that she left me… my family… and her friends…”

Foxx concluded, “Deondra you have left A hole in my heart… but I will fill it with all of the memories that you gave me … I love you with every ounce of me… our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love…”
