Jamie Dornan will not be giving Fifty Shades of Grey fans any full-frontal nude scenes in the upcoming feature film based off of E.L. James' best-selling erotic novel.

Jamie Dornan On Nude Scenes

Dornan plays the wealthy Christian Grey – a man with an entire room devoted to his affinity for BDSM – in Fifty Shades of Grey. Surprisingly, despite the book's heavy focus on sex, director Sam Taylor-Johnson was apparently keen to not make the film too graphic.

"You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out," Dornan told The Guardian. "You don't want to make something gratuitous, ugly and graphic."

When asked if he gets completely nude in the film, Dornan said that wouldn't be happening, indicating that his contract disallowed it. “There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn’t be seeing my, um…” he told the publication.

Dornan was quick to point out while discussing the sex scenes he filmed with Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele in the movie, thay they were anything but sexy to perform. "Anyone who thinks actors get turned on doing sex scenes in films is mistaken," he revealed. "There are dozens of hairy men standing around, moving cables and lighting equipment. That's not sexy unless you're into being watched, which I'm not."

As for the film itself, Dornan believes that those who look down on James' book should keep thier minds open about the movie. Noting Taylor-Johnson's resume and the studios that backed the project, he said skeptics should think about checking it out.

"Look, the film is not the book," he said. "It's an adaptation, and Sam Taylor-Johnson is an artist as well as an award-winning film director. Look at her track record. And look at the film studios behind it. Universal. Focus. All I can say is, wait until you see it before passing judgment."
