If you're one of the millions of Americans who thinks that James Franco, 32, has done everything, get ready to have your mind blown.
It's not enough that the Oscar co-host and nominated actor is one of the most in-demand figures in Hollywood, has received degrees from some of the nation's top schools, is an accomplished writer and will soon try his hand at directing, but now he will design and collaborate on teaching a college course about … wait for it … James Franco.
"Master Class: Editing James Franco … With James Franco" is the title of the course, which will be taught at Columbia College Hollywood (not to be confused with Columbia University, where Franco received his M.F.A. in 2010), reports Movieline.com. It will be limited to "12 of the private film school's best editing students [who] will create a 30 minute documentary film from videographic footage from Mr. Franco's own unorthodox career."
Franco will provide all the footage and collaborate with editor Tyler Danna in teaching the course. He is responsible for "the conception for the course, and will speak to the students weekly via live feed (Skype) and attend the weekly class sessions when his schedule allows."
If all this sounds too meta for you, there may be one practical application for the class. The release of the course description specifies that "there is the potential to carry the class forward with 12 different editors in the spring quarter and beyond as the film project continues." Looks like Franco may have figured out a way to get free labor for a biopic. —KIMBERLY STEELE
