Porn star James Deen, who co-stars with Lindsay Lohan in The Canyons, would like to throw his hat in the ring to play Christian in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Ever since E.L. James' "mommy porn" bestseller was confirmed to be adapted into a motion picture last year, eager fans began whispering about who could pull off the roles of the reserved Anastasia Steele and the seductive and powerful Christian Grey. While front-runners for the part of the male lead have rotated among Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson and White Collar's Matt Bomer, the call hasn't yet been made. Now Deen, fresh off of his publicity from the behind the scenes drama on The Canyons, is making a play for the part.
Deen could make a good argument that he's the best man for the job. With over 4,000 credits in adult films, he's more than comfortable performing sex scenes for the camera. He doesn't exactly keep his clothes on in The Canyons either, engaging in a four-way sex scene with Lohan and two others. While Deen has yet to read Fifty Shades of Grey himself, he's well aware that the content matches his body of work.
“It seems like a character I could have a lot of fun with,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve heard really mixed responses about it, like, ‘Oh, it’s a cheesy Twilight wannabe.’… [but] I think it could be fun. I feel like it could be a really cool, fun role to work on.”
