Jake Lloyd, the actor best known for playing the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, was arrested over the weekend following a high-speed car chase in Charleston, S.C.
When Charleston police attempted to pull over Lloyd, 26, the former child actor attempted to evade them, according to TMZ. Cops were in pursuit of Lloyd for several miles, as he weaved across double yellow lines and traveled at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
The car chase ended when Lloyd lost control of his vehicle, running off the road and through a fence before coming to a halt in a wooded area after slamming into a number of trees.
Lloyd was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license. At this time, he remains in police custody.
Prior to landing the part of Anakin Skywalker, Lloyd had a multi-episode arc on ER and starred alongside Tim Allen in Jingle All the Way. After Phantom Menace, Lloyd continued to do voice work for the Star Wars video games. His last acting role was in 2005 film Madison.
