Jada Pinkett Smith & Leah Remini Settle Feud Over Scientology, Hide-And-Seek Game With Tom Cruise

Actresses Jada Pinkett Smith and Leah Remini have continued a feud for a number of years now. It started with Scientology – and hide and seek.

In 2015, Remini published her book Troublemaker, a memoir and expose of Scientology. Remini, who was a Scientologist for a number of years, found herself in hot water with a number of people after the book was published. One passage was about Tom Cruise wanting to play hide-and-seek with her and some friends. Remini said she found that to be weird, which is it, and declined the offer. Jada and her husband, Will Smith, didn’t.

When Pinkett Smith was first asked about the game, she shrugged it off. She described it as “completely innocent” and that some kids also played, including hers.

This week, on Red Table Talk, the two discussed the feud that incident brewed. Pinkett Smith said she responded to the incident as a way to protect her and her husband and to offer her side of the event.

“I was hurt, but I never said anything,” Pinkett Smith said.

“I wasn’t even considering that you would be hurt,” Remini responded, adding that when she wrote the book, she was “going hard on my rightness” and was “caught up in that pain” caused by the belief and its followers.

Remini then said that she assumed Pinkett Smith’s response to the passage was a Scientologist tactic called “fair gaming.” It’s when a Scientologist discredits and attacks “anyone speaking out against the abuses of Scientology.”

“You get trained how to do this,” Remini explained, saying that the Scientologist will first laugh at an accusation as if it’s boring, then attempt to discredit it.

By the end of the show though, the two women hugged it out and agreed to move on, understanding where the other had come from. Remini would add “it’s never too late to heal.”
