When Euphoria star Jacob Elordi stopped by The Ellen Show for an interview promoting the second season of the hit drama series, he weighed in on the discussion of the show’s frequent nude scenes. Elordi’s character, the jock Nate Jacobs, has stripped down many times in both seasons of the show.

After asking questions about Elordi’s native Australia and a 2017 visit in the Ellen audience, Ellen DeGeneres asked him about how he felt acting in nude scenes. While he jokingly said “you have no choice,” given that the nudity, “comes with the territory of the character,” Elordi did add that the nude content of Euphoria was more justified than in other movies. He mentioned that in other projects, “it gets to the point where it’s like ‘He goes to the mall shirtless.’ and it’s like, why?”

Elordi also shouted out the intimacy coordinator of the show, who he said is “like a second mother,” and was constantly checking in with him and the other cast, “to the point where you’re like ‘Yeah, yeah.'” He also added that “the crew has been the same from the first season through the second season, so it’s kind of, it’s like getting naked with your family.” You can watch Elordi’s interview here:

Elordi is the latest of many cast members who have spoken highly of the series’ production team and show creator Sam Levinson for managing potentially-uncomfortable filming situations in a safe manner for the actors. This included new guest stars for the second season like Minka Kelly, who said Levinson rewrote a scene for her when she requested to remove a moment where her dress fell away.

Sydney Sweeney, another main cast member who plays Cassie Howard in the show, also told The Independent that she never felt pressured by Levinson to do scenes she didn’t want to do and felt like she could speak up when she wanted scenes changed. “I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me,” Sweeney also said.
