Jack White covered Stevie Wonder‘s “You Are The Sunshine of My Life” on The Muppets finale Monday night.
Miss Piggy introduced White’s performance, saying, “To send things out on a high note, here’s a man who is as salty as he is sweet. Jack White!”
“Thanks Piggy,” White replies, before explaining. “I was going to play something new tonight, but an old friend asked me if I would play something with a little more history.”
White then jumps into playing “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life” with the help of Gonzo, Beaker, Fozzie Bear and the gang.
The song choice was an effort to play matchmaker between Kermit and Miss Piggy.
During the episode, White also did a carpool karaoke take of The White Stripes’ “Fell in Love With a Girl” with Kermit. “#JackWhite and #Kermit’s voices sound great together!” Third Man Records captioned an Instagram clip of the two.
White’s cover of “Sunshine” will be available in vinyl 7” from Third Man Records. The digital release is available on Tidal and iTunes.
