J.K. Rowling, engaging with her many fans on Twitter, revealed that there is a Hogwarts sister school in the U.S., and that it will make an appearance in the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
A curious Harry Potter reader asked Rowling on Twitter over the weekend where American witches and wizards could attend a school comparable to the United Kingdom’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Harry, Ron and Hermione learned magic. In her reply, Rowling teased that the school would be revealed in the near future – most likely in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie.
It was announced earlier this month that Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne had been cast in the lead role in Fantastic Beasts as magizoologist Newt Scamander.
“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity,” filmmaker David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films and will direct the prequel, said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”
Rowling penned Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as a companion book to her seven-book Harry Potter series. She is making her debut as a screenwriter on the film.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is slated to hit theaters Nov. 18, 2016.
