J.C. Penney’s ‘Period Skirt’ Goes Viral, Company Gets In On The Joke

J.C. Penney has a skirt for sale that’s been dubbed the “period skirt” on the Internet – and the company could not care less.

The skirt in question that J.C. Penney is selling is the Worthington Side Slit Pencil Skirt. “Our side slit pencil skirt lets you set the day’s agenda whether you are in the office or at another important function,” reads the ad copy.

The white, knee length skirt features a bright purple flower that is conspicuously placed towards the top, center of the skirt, leading some to suggest that it looks like a period stain.

J.C. Penney, unable to ignore the growing number of tweets and articles about the “period skirt,” decided to comment on the clothing item as well.

“We think it’s a fab skirt for any time of the month,” J.C. Penney tweeted. “Period.”
