Ivanka Trump’s Tweets Condemning White Supremacy After El Paso Shooting Backfire As Critics Call Out Her Father

In response to the mass shooting in El Paso that left 20 people dead, Ivanka Trump tweeted her condemnation of white supremacy on Sunday. The shooting occurred on August 3 in a Walmart, and the gunman’s hatred towards immigrant has been cited as a motive.

Ivanka called white supremacy a form of terrorism and “an evil that must be destroyed.”

As our nation mourns the senseless loss of life in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio and prays for the victims and their loved ones, we must also raise our voices in rejection of these heinous and cowardly acts of hate, terror and violence.

Progressive activists immediately criticized Ivanka’s message noting the way in which her father, President Donald Trump, has promoted white supremacy. One of the tweets that responded to Trump’s message said, “Tell that to you daddy, Ivanka – the #WhiteSupermacistInChief.” The responses slamming Ivanka have kept on coming.
