The COVID-19 pandemic hit White House once again this weekend. This time, it was announced that Ivanka Trump‘s personal assistant has contracted the coronavirus.
The assistant was asymptomatic when she tested positive for COVID-19.
Ivanka, the daughter and a senior advisor to President Donald Trump, has been working from home for a couple of months and did not come in contact with the assistant for several weeks.
Her husband and the fellow senior adviser to the president, Jared Kushner, has also tested negative.
On Friday, Trump revealed that Vice President Mike Pence‘s press secretary, Katie Miller, contracted coronavirus.
“She is a wonderful young woman, Katie, she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of a sudden today she tested positive,” Trump said.
The news came only several days after Trump’s personal valet tested positive for coronavirus.
This marks a third White House case of the novel coronavirus in one week.
“We have put in place the guidelines that our experts have put forward to keep this building safe,” said Kayleigh McEnany, White House press secretary.
Trump has recently sought to reopen the country, asserting that the states should start thinking about loosening the lockdowns and restrictions and send people back to work.
