Ivanka Trump’s self-proclaimed distaste for politics has been questioned following her frequent attendance at dad Donald Trump‘s events.
Although Ivanka previously served as an adviser for the Trump administration throughout her father’s first term, in the last few years, she has made her feelings on the high-powered roles clear, going so far as to bluntly state she “hates” politics.
In 2022, she posted to social media, “I love my father very much. This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.”

Upon Trump’s return to the White House earlier this year, Ivanka restated her feelings. In a January episode of The Skinny Confidential: Him & Her podcast, she shared, “I love policy and impact. I hate politics and unfortunately, the two are not separable…there’s a darkness in that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.”
She described the difference between her father’s first and second term in the podcast, saying, “We were like the Pioneers…Now there are so many people around. I think about in this moment how I can also support him because I know what the job is, like in a very personal way, having been by his side for four years. I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him to take his mind off things, to watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game.”
She emphasized, “To know that he can be with me, and be himself and just relax and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter.”
Many have pointed out that despite Ivanka’s comments, she has not made an effort to distance herself from her father in the last few months, appearing closely by his side at many events, such as the Republican National Convention and the Joint Address to Congress.
Most recently, at the joint congressional address, Ivanka sat in the president’s box beside her husband Jared Kushner, joined as well as her mother Melania and siblings Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and Tiffany. Trump’s youngest son, Barron, was not present due to his conflicting class schedule at New York University.
Ivanka documented her attendance on Instagram with a photo and the caption “48 hours in DC!” She shortly followed up with another post showing off her outfit for the event. She captioned the post, “Thank you, @oscardelarenta, for the exquisite navy blue tweed suit with orchid appliqués.”
“Hair, makeup + photos by my dear friend @alexarodulfo (apparently I’m an ambi-turner … Serving right angles only in full Zoolander style),” she added.
