With her father set to take office in January, Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner are looking to move from New York City to Washington, D.C.
This move may indicate that Kushner is gearing up to receive an adviser role in Donald Trump‘s administration. In what capacity, it is unsure, as it could be complicated by nepotism laws. “I think Jared Kushner, obviously [Trump’s] son-in-law is going to be very involved in decision-making,” guessed White House chief of staff Reince Priebus on Today.
Kushner has already been involved, and seems to have taken over Trump’s transition team efforts, ousting Chris Christie from the position. Kushner is a real estate mogul like his father-in-law, and owns the skyscraper at 666 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, which he acquired in a troublesome deal.
There have been rumors about how much of a role Ivanka will play in her father’s cabinet. She has been sitting in on meetings with foreign leaders. Trump had spoken about his adult children taking over his business, in which case they should stay out of the presidential affairs.
Trump will be delivering a speech on Dec. 15 to provide the details of his plan for his company while he is in Washington. His wife Melania and son Barron will remain in New York until the school year is out, before joining him at the White House.
