'Innocence Of Muslims' Director Nakoula Basseley Nakoula Is Sentenced To Prison

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the director of the anti-Islam film Innocence of Muslims, was sentenced to one year in prison for violating his parole after which he will serve four years of probation.

Nakoula, also known as Mark Basseley Youssef, appeared in a Los Angeles Federal District Court and pleaded guilty to four charges of violating a probation sentence from 2010 after a bank fraud conviction. As a result of the plea, the government agreed to drop four more probation violation charges against Nakoula stemming from his work on the film.

Robert Dugdale, the prosecuting attorney on the case revealed how Nakoula, using dubbing techniques, turned what was supposed to be a film about a bloodthirsty tribal leader named George into the Prophet Muhammad. The film sparked violence and unrest throughout the Muslim world and cast members are receiving death threats. Actors in the film, like Anna Gurji (pictured), say that they were shocked when they viewed the film.
