Infowars’ Alex Jones Arrested On DWI Charge [Mugshot]

Conspiracy theorist and the founder of Infowars, Alex Jones, was arrested in Travis County, Texas for driving while intoxicated.

Early morning on Tuesday, Jones’s wife called the police after an argument between the couple. She stated that he had driven off and was possibly drinking. Shortly after midnight, Jones was pulled over and officers reported a “strong odor of alcohol.” The deputy tested his blood-alcohol content, and Jones blew .076 and .079, according to court records. In Texas, the legal blood alcohol limit is .08 percent. Jones was also allegedly unable to complete sobriety tests, losing his balance and failing to touch heel to toe.

Jones told the deputy he had consumed a bottle of Sake wine while having dinner with his wife at a sushi restaurant at about 8 p.m. Monday, the affidavit said. After getting into an argument with his wife, Jones said he walked home, about three miles away. When the argument continued at home, he left to go to another of his residences “to get away from his wife.”

Jones was released shortly after 4 a.m. on a personal recognizance bond.

This isn’t the first time Jones has been linked to alcohol and driving. Back in December in 2016, in a  New York Times story, a former InfoWars staffer described Jones driving while drinking out of a Dixie cup that had the “smell of vodka, like paint thinner.”

As the head of InfoWars, Jones is facing multiple lawsuits from families who lost children in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre after claiming that the mass shooting was a hoax. Jones has since acknowledged that the Sandy Hook killings occurred. His attorneys have defended his speech in court as “rhetorical hyperbole” and deny it was defamation.
