Influencer Andrew Tate Loses Appeal Over House Arrest In Romania In Human Trafficking Case

Andrew Tate was unsuccessful in his most recent appeal in Romania, keeping him under house arrest as he faces charges of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

Tate took to social media, saying he hasn’t “been outside in 7 months.”

The social media influencer and former professional kickboxer was first arrested with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women late last year. The two brothers were placed in a Romanian jail for three months before being released to house arrest in late March 2023.

The four defendants denied allegations that they transported seven women to Romania and violently coerced them to make pornographic material for websites like OnlyFans. The women were allegedly subjected to “intimidation, constant surveillance” and insistence that they were in debt.

On June 20, 2023, Tate was officially charged by DIICOT, Romania’s anti-organized crime agency. Three days later, judges ruled that he would remain under house arrest for 30 additional days. Tate’s lawyers appealed the decision, but on Thursday, July 6, Mateea Petrescu, a representative for Tate, stated that they lost the appeal.

Before the appeal ruling was finalized on Thursday, Tate said that the original decision was not unanimous. “One Judge decided we are free one judge decided we are not. So we must now return to court, for the second time today and appeal to new judges,” he wrote.

But after the judges decided against his appeal, Tate said the ruling was “very strange” and asked his followers to “speculate” about the controversy. Tate has asserted on numerous occasions that there is no evidence against him and that there is a conspiracy to silence him from expressing his often-disputed views.
