In a Christmas Eve interview with Tucker Carlson, former Hollywood star Kevin Spacey hinted at a potential presidential run in 2024, expressed disdain for bunnies at the White House and made allegations against his former employer, Netflix.
Spacey is known for his role as Frank Underwood in House of Cards before he was fired in 2017 due to numerous sexual harassment allegations. However, he has adopted a tradition where he reprises his character in odd Christmas interviews.
Carlson commenced the interview, “We know who the candidates are. It’s too late for another to get in. Some have already dropped out… Is there anyone in this country of 350 million people who could jump in at this late date and scramble the calculus of electoral politics? Well, there may be someone and in fact, you already know him. You know his face. And the question is, will he get in this cycle? And that’s my question for you.”
The camera then revealed Spacey in character as Underwood, a dramatic twist to the interview.
Spacey responded, “Well, that’s really a decision for the people, Tucker… It’s not something that I really think about or want to do. And Merry Christmas to you, too.”
He added, “But I’ve always believed that nothing should be off the table in life. I think we would both agree that we need to get some adults back in the room. So if that means taking on the chief executive role, well, that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for this great nation.”
Throughout the interview, Spacey shared some of his political views, which included an unexpected criticism of bunnies.
He said, “Well, this country is mired in so much contradiction and confusion… I mean, what doesn’t come with a trigger warning these days?… We coddled everybody. Okay? You think you’re a rabbit? That’s fine. But let me tell you something. You sure as hell aren’t going to see someone walking through my White House in bunny ears and a tail unless it’s Easter.”
Carlson also suggested that Netflix had attempted to harm Spacey, to which the actor responded, “It is bizarre that they decided to publicly cut ties with me on allegations alone, allegations that have now been proven false… Because I don’t think there’s any question Netflix exists because of me. I put them on the map and they tried to put me in the ground.”
The claim that Netflix tried to harm Spacey led to speculative conspiracy theories on X, where some users suggested that Spacey possessed knowledge of the dark secrets of elite individuals, which led to attempts on his life.
In July, Spacey was acquitted in a U.K. trial that involved allegations of sexual assault by four men. He faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, which included assault, from more than a dozen men.
In October, Spacey received a standing ovation at Oxford University at a forum about cancel culture.
