Rapper Iggy Azalea confirmed the birth of a baby boy on her Instagram story on Wednesday.
She wrote, “I have a son. I kept waiting for the right time to say something but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world.”
She went on to explain to her 13.4 million followers, “I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret and I love him beyond words.”
Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, did not share any pictures of the baby or give any other details on his birth.
Rumors started going around in December that Azalea was pregnant, but they soon stopped as the rapper continued to post bikini pictures and other selfies that showed off her flat stomach. On May 25, Azalea posted an Instagram in a cropped jacket.
Since the announcement, fans have been wondering who the baby’s father is. It is rumored to be fellow rapper Playboi Carti whom Azalea had been dating since 2018. When asked in an interview last year what the relationship status between the two was, Azalea flashed a ring, but neither party directly confirmed an engagement.
Azalea recently had her birthday on June 7, she turned 30 and celebrated by posting a selfie on instagram in front of a birthday cake, She captioned the photo, “June 7th 1990!”
Azalea has been active on Twitter in speaking out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and calling for justice in the wake of George Floyd’s death, a black man that was killed in police custody by an officer kneeling on his neck.
