Idris Elba recently opened up about his experience of being held at gunpoint. He was trying to defend a woman who was being threatened by a man outside of a club.
In a new interview with the Daily Mail, the Hijack actor recounted the traumatic event.
“I nearly lost my f—ing life,” he explained. “A guy was whaling on his missus, screaming in her face, ‘I’ll f—ing kill you,’ and so on. I come around and I go, ‘Look how beautiful she is. Why would you talk to this beautiful princess like that?'”
Elba’s attempt to diffuse the situation only made matters worse.
“He pulled out a gun, stuck it right in my face, and goes, ‘You talking about my girl?’ He thought I was trying to hit on her,” Elba said. “I remember thinking, ‘Don’t play negotiations like that… Consequences, man.'”
