Ice Cube Gets Backlash For Endorsing Trump’s ‘Premium Plan’ For Black America
Hip-hop icon Ice Cube has been blasted on social media over his collaboration with President Donald Trump. This comes after Trump senior adviser Katrina Pierson revealed the rapper’s support of Trump’s new “Platinum Plan.”
On October 13, Pierson tweeted: “Shoutout to @icecube for his willingness to step up and work with @realDonaldTrumpAdministration to help develop the #PlatinumPlan ICYMI: https://cdn.donaldjtrump.com/public-files/press_assets/president-trump-platinum-plan-final-version.pdf. Leaders gonna lead, haters gonna hate. Thank you for leading! ”
Pierson was sure to add a link to Trump’s Platinum Plan, which details his plan to provide investments in black communities that would allow for better access to job opportunities, healthcare, and quality policing along with initiatives for black-owned businesses to access funding.
Twitter users descended upon Ice Cube over his support for Trump’s policies. The confusion came from the perceived hypocrisy on Ice Cube’s part, given his staunch disapproval of Trump in 2016. The rappers once wrote in a Twitter post, “I will never endorse a mothaf–ka like Donald Trump! EVER!!!”
The rapper addressed the negative response from his fans on Twitter just a day later by posting, “Every side is the Darkside for us here in America. They’re all the same until something changes for us. They all lie and they all cheat but we can’t afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our condition in this country will never change. Our justice is bipartisan.”
