Hunter Biden Settles Child Support Case With Lunden Roberts, Will Gift Daughter His Paintings

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has settled his child support case, where he requested to reduce his payments to Lunden Roberts for their four-year-old daughter.

Biden and Roberts have been disputing this case for years.

It started in 2019 when Roberts filed a lawsuit in which she was seeking health care and child support. Biden demanded a paternity test to prove that the child was his and when it came back positive he agreed to pay $20,000 a month in 2020. In 2023, Roberts accused Biden of being in contempt when he ignored court orders to disclose his finances.

It was not disclosed how much Biden will pay in child support going forward, but he will support his child until she turns 18 and will set up a college fund for her. In addition to this, Biden will “assign to the child” a few of his paintings, the exact number was not announced. These will “vary in size with a minimum size of 24×24.” 

Biden will allow his daughter to “select the painting which shall either be sent to the child” or to a gallery chosen by Roberts. If they choose to sell the paintings, the money made will be wired to an account that Roberts has selected. 

It has been estimated by the New York City gallery that the range value of one of these paintings is $75,000 to $500,000. Biden started painting as a way to cope while recovering from his alcohol and drug addictions. 

Critics worry buyers of his paintings may be trying to influence his father. 

Additionally, the court filing stated that Roberts withdrew her request to change her daughter’s last name from Roberts to Biden. 

The settlement was agreed to on June 16, which was just days before it was publicly announced that Biden took a plea deal over misdemeanor tax charges.
