Hugh Jackman said that he does not believe he will return to play Wolverine in the near future.

Jackman, who has a new film Reminscense coming out, mused about the possibility of returning to play Wolverine since the new multiverse might allow for actors to return as characters they played in the past.

“Well, there’s nothing in my inbox from Kevin Feige means it’s probably, no matter what idea I came up with, not on the table,” Jackman told Jake’s Takes, referring to the producer who acts as the head of Marvel Studios. Feige has supervised the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2007.

“Let’s just be clear there, but now, I realized, before we shot Logan,’ I was like, we got the idea. We knew what it was going to be-ish, right?” Jackman explained. “And I thought this is it. And that really helped me, it really helped knowing I was going into my last season, that it was my last season that I made the most of it. And it’s still a character I hold close to my heart. But I know it’s done.”

Jackman’s most recent appearance as Wolverine was in the film Logan, which was released in 2017. He has played Wolverine in a total of nine films as part of the X-Men series of movies.
