‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 2, Episode 6 Recap: Annalise Helps Transgendered Friend With Murder Case

Annalise (Viola Davis) receives a sudden call from a friend named Jill Hartford (Alexandra Billings), a professor at the University, after confessing to Annalise that she just killed her husband Steven by smashing a bottle over his head after he drunkenly attempted to kill her. After the police appear at her home, Jill is revealed to be a transgender woman: she used to be a man named Henry.

‘How to Get Away With Murder’ Season 2, Episode 6 Recap

Meanwhile, Asher (Matt McGorry) confronts Bonnie (Liza Weil) about not testifying for her and finally expresses how sorry he was that Sam (Tom Verica) attacked her. The team of students continue their fervent search for a new suspect in the Hapstall siblings case, aside from their late aunt Helena. Annalise becomes furious with the team after they tell her that they discovered Catherine Hapstall (Amy Okuda) recording them (saying how they suspect her and Caleb (Kendrick Sampson) of being murderers) using the microphone in her tablet in their own home. Catherine realizes that they have found out, and expresses anger at not being able to trust her lawyers.

Frank relays to Annalise the news that Nate’s (Billy Brown) wife Nia has passed away.

Jill confesses to making one of her students, her T.A., lie to witnessing Steven beating her repeatedly in their car after driving to her home to drop off some exams that she forgot to give her. Annalise decides to use this to her advantage, knowing full well that this was a lie.

The team decides to look into the Hapstalls’ birth parents after some heated arguments. Michaela (Aja Naomi King) is adopted so she has personal feelings about this issue. After Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) helps the team hack into the website of the adoption agency that the Hapstalls came from, and finds that the record is under Helena’s name. It is revealed that Helena had a baby boy (the Hapstall siblings’ cousin) who may have tried to frame his cousins for the murder of their adoptive parents.

Annalise attempts to bribe the lead police detective/prosecutor in Jill’s husband’s murder case to let Jill walk away free in exchange for a whole profile on Judge Millstone (John Posey), Asher’s father, who is revealed to have made corrupt, unethical decisions before convicting certain criminals.

After Nate tells Annalise that he is done with her and to leave him alone forever, Wes (Alfred Enoch) learns the truth about Annalise: that she knows more about Rebecca’s disappearance than she claims. Laurel (Karla Souza) meets Frank’s (Charlie Weber) family.

Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns) accepts having lost to Annalise and, knowing Bonnie is in a relationship with Asher, gives Bonnie an envelope with information about a woman named Tiffany that Asher was involved with. Sinclair tells Bonnie that Tiffany was gang-raped, but Bonnie refuses to take the envelope and learn more about this woman.

Catherine Hapstall’s body is found in the woods early one morning by a female police officer and her trained dog, and although she initially appears dead, she suddenly wakes up, and the cop reports her state of consciousness.
