‘How I Met Your Father’ Episode 3 TV Review: A New Suspect!

In comparison to the first two episodes, How I Met Your Father‘s episode 3, “The Fixer,” is overall the least entertaining – more of a filler episode than anything. It mainly focuses on the arcs of the supporting characters (that are not quite interesting to me yet) rather than lead protagonist Sophie and her journey in finding her one true love – the mystery father of her future son. That being said, the ending left viewers with a shocking twist and a new suspect of who this “father” could be.

Warning Spoilers Ahead!

While Sid and his fiancé Hannah (Ashley Reyes) work out their long-distance relationship and Charlie and Ellen (Tien Tran) search for roommates and new apartments, Sophie helps Jesse capture “the perfect” profile picture for his new Tinder account during his lunch break at the elementary school where he teaches. In the midst of their photoshoot, Sophie encounters Drew (Josh Peck), the school’s vice-principal, who although asks her to leave the premises due to taking photos of a young boy without his permission, he is almost immediately attracted to her and tells her that she looks familiar. At the episode’s conclusion, it is revealed that Sophie had indeed previously met Drew at Sid and Hannah’s engagement party which occurred the night Sophie met her husband-to-be.

Talk about a complete game changer!

There may have been more guys Sophie met that night who we have not yet been introduced to. In other words, the mystery father could literally be anyone at this point. So much for an easy hint!

I am now torn between Jesse and Drew. While we currently know very little about Drew, I like how his interaction with Sophie plays out in this episode and can definitely sense good chemistry potentially brewing between the two – not to mention that I will always have a soft spot for Peck.

I am also fond of the direction Sophie’s relationship with Jesse is heading. She finally opens up to him about growing up with divorced parents and how it has affected her upbringing. They both obviously care so much about each other’s happiness that they are encouraging each other to date people.

Ultimately, whoever Sophie ends up with, I just really want it to be someone that she has a well-developed dynamic with as well as one who genuinely loves her (and preferably not someone she met on Tinder).
