House Speaker Mike Johnson Protects Jan. 6 Rioters ‘From Prosecution’ By Blurring Their Faces In New Footage Released To The Public

House Speaker Mike Johnson revealed that House Republicans have intentionally blurred footage from the Capitol attack before the public release to prevent the January 6 rioters from criminal charges.

Johnson explained that they need to blur the faces of individuals involved in the events of that day to protect them from retaliation and potential charges by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Johnson himself was deeply involved in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election based on false claims of widespread election fraud. He emphasized the importance of individuals conducting their own research into the Capitol attack rather than relying solely on the narrative presented by the January 6 Committee.

According to Johnson, the footage was released to provide the American people with an opportunity to draw their own conclusions about the events that transpired on January 6.

He expressed his belief that partisan elected officials in Washington should not dictate a narrative and expect it to be accepted as the ultimate truth.

Several elected Republicans have spread misinformation about the January 6 attack.

Their statements have compared it to a “normal tourist visit,” questioned the FBI director about conspiracy theories, and falsely claimed that the individuals charged with crimes were, in reality, undercover law enforcement agents.

While the DOJ does possess the raw footage, online sleuths have played a crucial role in the identification of many of the Capitol rioters and assisted the FBI’s investigation. These online investigators have used the CCTV footage to identify individuals who entered the building and have compiled a database that contains clear photos of the suspects. Facial recognition technology has been utilized to generate leads and resulted in the advancement of hundreds of cases against January 6 defendants.

To date, over 1,200 defendants have been charged in connection with the January 6 attack, and more than 400 have received prison sentences. Additionally, there are over 1,000 identified January 6 participants who have not yet been arrested.

Last week, it was revealed that former Vice President Mike Pence considered skipping the election certification because of his loyalty to “my friend” Trump.

In August, Trump pleaded not guilty to four charges of illegally trying to overturn the 2020 election.
