Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the Eiken Centre in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, earlier today to attend the “Amazing the Space” event.

The couple’s visit is a surprise to the 2,000 schoolchildren who are participating in peace-building activities as part of Prince Harry’s youth-led initiative in Northern Ireland.

Funded by the Northern Ireland Executive Office and organised by Co-operation Ireland, Amazing the Space was launched by Prince Harry in September 2017 and empowers young people across Northern Ireland to become ambassadors for peace within their communities,” the Kensington Palace said in a statement. “The event will see young people sharing their aspirations for a peaceful future, not just at home, but on a worldwide basis, and will showcase the ground-breaking cross community and reconciliation work from young people across Northern Ireland. The couple will watch the performances and meet young people to hear about their ‘Peace Pledges.’”

It’s the couple’s first official joint visit to Northern Ireland, the Kensington Palace said. After visiting the Eiken Centre, Prince Harry and Markle went to The Crown Liquor Saloon, met the public at Great Victoria Street, Catalyst Inc. and Titanic Belfast.
