Mindy Kaling Roasted By ‘Office’ Costar B.J. Novak While Receiving Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame: ‘I Love You’

B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling were seen together at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, where Kaling received a star on the famous street. Novak and Kaling were co-stars on the iconic TV show The Office and are also best friends.

Novak started off with a playful jab at Kaling, stating, “Mindy respects and understands this in a very intuitive way. Because in addition to being very brilliant and wildly successful showrunner, an incredible mother-of-three, a deep caring daughter and friend and mentor so many, Mindy is also, in her spare time, I assure you, very superficial.”

Novak’s speech was heartfelt but also cheeky. “Mindy, as I look around and see all of these people from your life who have believed in you from the beginning, I’m just sorry that none of us doubted you because I know how much more fun that would make this for you. But we couldn’t help it. We always knew you’d be famous, but we had no idea how beautifully you’d handle the job.” 

After Novak ended his speech, Kaling took the stage to receive her star and acknowledged Novak. “Sometimes I forget that the reason I know him is because we worked together professionally,” she said. “I’m as star-struck by him now at age 29 as I was when I first met you at age 24. I love you.”

Speculation about the pair’s relationship has raged for years – but they still seem comfortable leaving it ambiguous.
