‘Descendants: The Rise Of Red’ Stars Malia Baker & Kylie Cantrall Strike A Pose Atop The Empire State Building
Rising stars Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall visited the Empire State Building as part of their promotional tour for the upcoming Disney movie Descendants: The Rise of Red.
Baker, 17, and Cantrall, 19, posed for photographs at the iconic New York City landmark before making an appearance on Good Morning America to discuss the fourth installment in the popular Descendants franchise.
During their television interview, the young actresses shared insights into the challenges of portraying on-screen rivals despite their real-life friendship.
“It was so hard,” Baker admitted, referring to scenes where they had to act hostile toward each other. Cantrall echoed this sentiment, adding, “Those scenes were hard, the ones where we had to hate each other because we couldn’t be further from that.”
The co-stars revealed that maintaining their composure during intense confrontations proved difficult. Baker described a particular scene where their characters engage in a fierce staredown.
“There’s this one scene that you’ll see where our heads are right against one another, trying to hate each other,” Baker explained. Cantrall interjected, “We had to do this death stare scene, where we’re just staring at each other and just looking into each other intensely, and we would just giggle every time.”
Baker jokingly added that it took “50 takes” to film the scene without breaking character successfully.
Descendants: The Rise of Red continues the musical fantasy saga that has captivated young audiences since its debut in 2015. The franchise explores the lives of the teenage children of famous Disney heroes and villains.
The movie will premiere on Disney+ on July 12 and Disney Channel on August 9.
