‘Absolutely Fabulous’ Star Joanna Lumley Becomes Dame For Services To Drama & Charity
Dame Joanna Lumley received a royal honor on July 14, when she accepted the title of Dame Commander for her contributions to the worlds of drama and charity through her lengthy career. Lumley looked sharp in a hot-pink coat and quintessentially British hat and even matched the medal she was presented with.
Dame Lumley will always be a British television icon for originating Patsy Stone in the loved sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. More recently she made an appearance in the film Paddington 2, and has a recurring role on the British comedy-drama show Finding Alice.
He has also been a strident activist and supporter of various causes throughout her life. She has expressed support for discriminated groups including the Gurkhas in Nepal, exiled Tibetan people, and the Khonds indigenous group of India. She is even the public face of the Gurkha Justice Campaign, which she has participated in since 2008.
