Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in La Quinta, California.

The actor was taken into custody at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday after a traffic stop determined Bryan was driving while impaired. He was booked at the Riverside County jail. Bryan was charged with a felony DUI and also a misdemeanor for contempt of court. He was released on a $50,000 bail for the felony charge and an additional $15,000 for the misdemeanor the day of his arrest. A court appearance is scheduled for April 23.

Bryan has faced legal issues in the past. The actor has two domestic violence charges against his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. The actor pled guilty in October 2023. The charges included assault and strangulation.

Tim Allen, who played Bryan’s father in Home Improvement, previously spoke up about Bryan’s legal troubles.

“Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process. At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control.”

Allen also had a run-in with the law over a drug charge in the past.
