‘Home Improvement’ Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested For Third Time In A Year On Domestic Violence Charges

Former Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan, 43, was arrested Wednesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C., marking his third arrest in the past 12 months. Authorities confirmed he was charged with second-degree domestic violence and booked into Horry County jail on Thursday with bail set at $10,000.

Bryan, best known for portraying Tim Allen’s eldest son on the hit 1990s sitcom, has faced multiple legal troubles in recent years. In October, he was arrested for driving under the influence and driving without a valid license. Earlier in February 2023, he faced a felony DUI charge and a misdemeanor contempt of court charge.

This isn’t Bryan’s first arrest involving domestic violence. In July 2023, he was charged with felony assault, third-degree robbery and assault. He later pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree, serving seven days in jail and receiving 36 months of supervised probation.

In a 2020 domestic violence case, Bryan was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault after an alleged altercation. He pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence, avoiding jail time with a plea deal.

Reflecting on that incident in a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan claimed, “We didn’t even really get that physical… At the end of the day, [the police] throw a bunch of counts at you because they ultimately want you to plead to something.”

Tim Allen, expressed concern in the same interview, saying, “Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know. All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process.”

Following Home Improvement, Bryan appeared in shows like ER, Smallville and Veronica Mars and had a role in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. However, his acting career stalled after 2009, with his most recent credited work being in the 2022 series The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).
