In response to an anonymous Hollywood producer pitting him against fellow actor Ryan Gosling, Glen Powell has made it clear that he will not stand for such drama.
According to a Wrap report, the producer called Powell “an up-and-coming movie star.” He went on to say, “Unlike an actor like Ryan Gosling whose appeal is mostly limited to female audiences, Glen appeals to both females and males.”
On Tuesday, Powell acknowledged the comment with a nod to Gosling’s hit performance in the 2023 blockbuster movie, Barbie.
“Gosling is a legend. I’m just Glen,” he wrote on X. As of Wednesday morning, the post received more than 358,000 likes.
Powell’s rise to fame has been notable, with his performance in movies like Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You garnering him acclaim within the industry.
In July, Powell shared his plans to finish his bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas via Zoom while filming his most recent comedy, Hit Man.
“They’re letting me figure it out with distance learning,” he told IndieWire.
Powell is slated to star in the upcoming Hulu series Chad Powers, as well as an adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Running Man.
