Hillary Clinton spent her Wednesday night in New York, taping a comedy sketch with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show as 11 Republican hopefuls debated live on CNN. In the sketch, Clinton, whose poll numbers have dropped as of late due, in large part, to the private email scandal, called Donald Trump, played by Fallon, for advice on the campaign trail.
The former New York Senator also took the opportunity to provide a few jabs at the divisive GOP frontrunner. “I’ve spent my entire career fighting for women’s rights,” said Clinton. “I’m really curious, Donald, what is your stance on women’s issues?” To which Trump/Fallon satirically replied, “Look, I know a lot of women… and they all have issues!” The humorous reaction provides Clinton with a lighthearted, yet effective platform through which to criticize her opponents. Clinton has made a concerted effort to appear more accessible to the American public as of late, appearing on programs such as NBC News and the popular talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Clinton and Fallon seemed to get along well, with a pleasant rapport and an abundance of humor. At one point, the former Senator explained her experience taking a selfie with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at a rest Los Angeles fundraiser.
