Hillary Clinton Delivers Painful Concession Speech After Loss [VIDEO]

After her devastating loss to Donald TrumpHillary Clinton delivered a speech full of pain, hope and gratitude.

HILLARY CLINTON CONCESSION SPEECH

Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine introduced his running mate this morning with a cheery speech about what a great team Clinton had built in the last year, and even further back. He described how we never had to worry about her character or her willingness to accept any result. “I’m proud of Hillary Clinton because she has been and is a great history maker,” he said. Kaine quoted William Faulkner in saying, “they killed us but they ain’t whooped us yet.”

Clinton walked out to minutes of applause before the crowd settled down. While her entire speech was undercut with pain, the majority sent a message of hope, and left many feeling inspired. “This is not the outcome we wanted,” she said. “And I’m sorry that we did not win this election. It was painful and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this — our campaign was never about one person or one election. It was about the country we love. Building an America that is hopeful, inclusive and big-hearted.”

She continued: “I still believe in America and I always will. And if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future,” Clinton said, staying strong. “Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.”

She went on to lament that her campaign could not energize Democratic voters enough for the win, but that she was so proud of her party and her supporters. She reminded everyone that no matter how bleak the next four years looks, that “the American dream is still big enough for everyone.”

Clinton also called out specifically to her female voters who were hoping for the first female president of this country. “To all the women and especially the young women who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion,” she said. “Now, I know, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but some day, someone will, and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.”

Clinton thanked the Obamas for their strong support and their incredible legacy in the White House. Lastly, the two-time presidential hopeful thanked her family for their support and love through this incredible journey.
