Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will guest-star in the new season of Broad City, which is set to return on Feb. 17, 2016.
The sitcom, airing on Comedy Central, features Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who created the show that was developed from their web series of the same name from 2009-11. Amy Poehler is one of the show’s executive producers.
The show has featured high profile guest stars before, including Seth Rogen, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Aidy Bryant.
The move was announced on Clinton’s Twitter page with a photo of Clinton, Jacobson, Glazer and Poehler, stating “On the set with @abbijacobson, @ilazer, and Amy! #yas.”
The show has received great reviews and built up a cult following. In both of its seasons, both the show and lead actress Glazer have been nominated at the Critic’s Choice Television Awards for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress In A Comedy Series, respectively.
The show has been noted by critics to have feminist undertones, and both Glazer and Jacobson have called themselves feminists in interviews.
So it’s not a mistake that one of the most powerful women in the United States would want to appear on the show, especially in an election year. Broad City runs about ten episodes per season, meaning Clinton will appear sometime in February or March.
It’s not the first time this election cycle Clinton has appeared on a TV program. She appeared as a bartender on Saturday Night Live, talking with her doppelganger played by Kate McKinnon. No word on if Donald Trump will try and do some sad attempts at one-up-man-ship, like he did with SNL.
