Hilary Duff spent her Memorial Day Weekend denying child sex trafficking rumors. On Saturday morning, Duff’s name became a trending topic on Twitter after the actress posted a series of photos of her son on Instagram.

One of Duff’s since-deleted pictures showed her son lying down nude with lotion on his body. Twitter users unfoundedly accused the actress of child trafficking based on this post and specifically said she was trying to sell her own son.

Duff responded to the accusations on Twitter. She commented, “Everyone bored af right now I know…but this is actually disgusting….. whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby.”

The actress’s fans jumped to her defense amid the bogus claims. One user tweeted, “Child trafficking is a REACH and it is disgusting and disturbing that anyone would try to make such a claim.”

In a statement to E! News, Duff’s representative stated, “Let me say this in the strongest terms, this is all a fabricated disgusting Internet lie, created and perpetuated by trolls and idiots. Hilary’s own post this morning is all that needs to be said on the matter. Everyone who knows Hilary is fully aware what an amazing mom she is and that requires no further comment. If only people with this much time on their hands used their energy to solve real problems in the world.”
