Hilary Duff Defends Photo Of Her Kissing 4-Year-Old Son On The Lips

Hilary Duff on Monday posted an Instagram pic of her kissing her son on the lips at Disneyland, which was met with some negative comments about the action.

While the picture has garnered around 276,000 likes, it attracted enough negative attention for the singer to speak out. “You should not kiss your son like that,” one commenter said. “There’s other ways to show love but not that one. It’s confusing for him, it’s not healthy.” Others rushed to Duff’s aid, saying, “Love this pic! My son is almost two and I still kiss him on the lips! If people are taking this a different way then there is something seriously wrong with them (and their twisted mind).”

Duff deleted most of the extremely hurtful comments, and clapped back with her own suggestion. “For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is ‘inappropriate’ go ahead and click unfollow with your warped minds and judgement,” she wrote.

Possibly one of the most positive comments on the original picture came from a 32-year-old man. “❤️I still kiss my mom. I’m 32. ? the love you’re showing your son is something he will remember and help him form healthy and loving relationships!” he wrote.

This is the second time this year that Duff has been hit with criticism. For Halloween, she and her then-boyfriend Jason Walsh dressed in Native American garb, complete with a headdress and face paint. She issued an apology for the offensive costume.
