Henry Cavill may have just teased a new costume for Superman for next year’s first Justice League movie.

Henry Cavill’s Superman Suit

Cavill took to Instagram Monday with a picture of what appears to be a close-up of a new Superman costume. The image shows an intricate, armor-like design on an all-black suit. “#Superman,” Cavill simply captioned the Instagram snap.

In Man of Steel and this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Cavill was outfitted in a more traditional red and blue latex Superman suit – provided it featured some modern flourishes. However, if the actor’s recent picture is anything to go by, Superman will have a different look when he returns for the Justice League flick. Since Superman ruined his suit in his battle with Doomsday in Batman v Superman, he could be due for a new one.

Director Zack Snyder‘s DC Comics films have taken a number of cues from the 1990s comic book saga Death and Return of Superman, according to Entertainment Weekly. If Superman does end up with a black suit, it could mean that Snyder is going even deeper in that particular Superman mythology.

Justice League – which reunites Superman with Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and also welcomed Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Mera (Amber Heard) – is slated to hit theaters Nov. 17, 2017.
