Heidi Montag is continuing her raw meat diet as an unusual fertility strategy and was photographed eating a bloody bison heart from a plastic bag on Wednesday. She smiled at the paparazzi camera as she took bites of the bizarre snack in Los Angeles.
She has been uploading several videos of her eating raw animal organs including several videos of her eating raw liver. Montag said she adopted this diet under the advice of Dr. Paul Saladino, who has written books about a raw meat diet. He also had an Instagram account promoting the diet, but it has since been banned.
Eating raw meat can have serious health risks as cooking is what kills a large number of bacteria and parasites in the food, and there’s been no proven connection between consuming raw red meat and increased fertility. Raw meat and seafood are also specifically supposed to not be eaten by pregnant women.
Montag is attempting to have a second child with her husband Spencer Pratt. They have a 4-year-old son named Gunner, and this new strategy comes after she underwent surgery last August to improve her chances of getting pregnant.
