Heather Locklear turned 53 last week, and the Melrose Place actress looks better than ever thanks to regular work outs and a diet that features portion control.
Locklear, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 25, was spotted looking fit and having fun, playing a game of tennis. It’s no surprise Locklear, who currently stars on TNT’s Franklin & Bash, was photographed working out on her birthday.
“Exercise plays a huge part in that [sustaining a positive outlook], especially cardio. I also love to play golf and tennis. Even a walk in the evening can take the edge off a bad day,” Locklear told Parade in January.
In that same interview, Locklear also dished on how music and workout buddies help get her motivated to go to the gym, and how she makes sure her diet is in keeping with her active lifestyle. “I use portion control and try to keep it healthy 80 percent of the time. I don’t deny myself carbs or sweets. I just make every effort to keep it within reason,” Locklear said.
As to how to look as ageless as Locklear, the actress admitted that she can’t take all the credit for her ability to age gracefully. “Good genes to start off with [slow the aging process]. Then taking care of what you’ve got: sunscreen, exercise, diet, water and being happy and content,” Locklear said.
Whatever Locklear is doing, people agree it’s working for her. Even her ex-husband Richie Sambora couldn’t help but gush over his former wife, telling People, “She’s doing her thing on Franklin & Bash and she looks better than ever. She’s still hot!”
