Actress Heather Graham has opened up about her estranged relationship with her parents.

Graham, 54, said she stopped speaking to her mother and father after they tried to stop her from pursuing a career in Hollywood.

She told The Wall Street Journal that she left home to make it in the industry at 18, despite her father telling her that “evil” Tinseltown would “claim [her] soul.”

Graham said her parents “were part of a generation that didn’t believe in therapy or discussing personal things, so I never felt I could talk to them.”

Her first role was in the 1988 film, License to Drive. She said she was living at home when it premiered and told herself, “I’ve got to get out of here, I’ve got to be successful, and I’ve got to be a movie star.”

She and a friend from high school found an apartment in West Hollywood. She cut ties with her parents when she was 25 and has not spoken to them since.

“My friends are proud of me, and I’m proud of myself. I have really good friends,” Graham told the outlet. “I live in Los Angeles in a house I bought last year. I also have a loft in New York.”

In June, the Austin Powers actress shared a series of bikini photos on social media that had fans swooning over her youthful appearance.
