A hilarious video of a Heath Ledger superfan getting a smooch from the man himself at the 2006 Australian Film Institute Awards has resurfaced and gone viral thanks to the #throwbackthursday trend.
Running into Ledger on the red carpet Sharon Strzelecki immediately screams in a fit of excitement and falls flat to the floor when the late leading man inexplicably plants one one her.
By a miraculous stroke of fate, Strzelicki is later brought on stage to present Ledger with the Reader’s Choice Award. Co-presenting the accolade with Australian pop star, Danii Minogue, Strzelicki is comically squeezed into a matching green silk dress.
Before you’re left thinking Strzelicki is the luckiest woman on the planet it should be established that she is in fact a character from the hit Australian show Kath & Kim played by actress Magda Szubanski.
Ledger, of course, tragically passed away in 2008, but the clip is a delightful snapshot of the warmth and fun-loving nature of his character and while Strzelicki’s reaction may have been a little over the top it’s likely the star was greeted in a similar manner by most fans he encountered.
